DHAKA: Bangladesh Mobile Phone Consumers Association has organized a symbolic strike program to increase unauthorized voice call rate, internet price adjustment and telecommunication sector anarchy.
On Tuesday (October 09th), the protest was stopped in front of the National Press Club from 11am to 12pm for 1 hour.
Organized by the organization's president Mohiuddin Ahmed, coordinator of the Ganasonghati Movement, Jonade Sakki, central leader of Bangladesh Socialist Party - Basakuzzaman Ratan, General Secretary of Bangladesh Mobilephone Consumers Association Advocate Abu Bakar Siddique, Bangladesh Baker Society (BABS) president Mohammad Hasan, were present at the symbolic strike strike.
It is said from the organization that, without any reason, the voice call rate increased by 50-70% on the occasion of bringing the call rate to 14th August. In addition to this, the Government has withdrawn 10 percent VAT on the internet in the budget this year, but it has not been implemented till date. So we call for quick implementation of the decision to bring voice call rates logically and to withdraw VAT.
